I cannot say enough about Dr. Joe Mattis from UPMC Mercy’s Emergency Department. This physician provided such expert care for my son who experienced a fairly significant trauma to his eye. Dr. Mattis was caring, concerned, efficient, thorough and stellar in his diagnosis and subsequent steps to ensure healing. He communicated the plan back to wellness clearly and articulately. Even more, he conveyed such genuine, dedicated concern and went above and beyond to help him. We are forever grateful for Dr. Mattis and his team (Nurse Ed from Seattle and a lovely nurse whose name I did not get). He is who every doctor should be.

UPMC Mercy saved my life! I was on the third floor of the ICU for 3 days with epiglottitis a severe respiratory infection and even though my condition was potentially life threatening, I had no fear. Doctors were quick to diagnose and develop a plan that was executed perfectly by a wonderful staff! Thank you to all my nurses Shelby, Jake, Brianna, Dianne and Emma everyone was so nice to me and made me feel so comfortable. My condition greatly improved in a very short time. When I came in I was unable to drink water, breathe correctly, swallow food, or talk without pain. Now I feel better than i did before. Caseworkers were wonderful to come in and make me feel like I'm not going to just get stuck with some humongous bill that there is help available for someone in my situation. And the food, not that bad lol. UPMC Mercy is world class and deserves recognition for outstanding standards in care and treatment! I'll never forget you guys!

I have never felt so genuinely cared about in a hospital before I needed to visit Mercy. I stayed for 21 days and the intensive care doctor's and nurses literally saved my life, while Dr. Philbin and Dr. Chopra saved my future. As great as the doctors were, however, they don't hold a candle to the 8th floor nurses. That could have been the worst three weeks of my life, but those girls made it a comfortable, relaxing and healing time. Thank you Emily, Jen, Jodi - all of you for your kindness, patience and humor. Thank you for the endless pitchers of ice and ginger ales, lol, for doing your very best to make sure I was comfortable and my mom had a cozy place to rest when she stayed with me. Thank you too the volunteers for the spiritual wellness AND guidance that was offered and the therapy dog, Ally, who really brightened some of my days. The facility is clean and modern, the gardens and fountains outside are lovely and the food is even good too! I also want to thank the social workers, case managers and dieticians that helped me. They found me a safe, affordable, comfortable respite when I was well enough to leave but not well enough to be alone or far away. They gave me the information I needed to plan the types of meals that help me heal, reduce the risks of reoccurring health issues, etc. Thumbs up, Mercy staff. Thanks for everything!

I was transferred here from another hospital with a broken tib-fib. From the minute I arrived, I was cared for. Within 30 minutes I had a surgeon splinting mr to hold me for surgery. The same surgeon checked on me post op. Dr. Gele Maloney is an amazing surgeon. Every single nurse I had was wonderful. Including the nurses, aids, transport, dietary, the newlywed from respiratory, every single person i had contact with made me feel like I was receiving the very best care in tbe world. If you have a need for ortho trauma, come here. From Dr Maloney to the 11th floor, they will all take good care of you. Thank you isn't sufficient enough, but from the bottom of my heart, thank you!

My name is Angelo, I’m 23 and I got into a terrible car accident and it ended with my braking one of my ribs, right arm, and right leg. Becca and Cassie were one of the two nicest people I’ve ever met in my entire life. They went out of their way to rebuild my confidence in regaining my strength, to walk and feel like me again. They went BEYOND their jobs to make me feel better. Without them I genuinely felt like I was worthless. Those two nurses need to be recognized for this. Can’t thank them enough and I’ll never forget them.

My gf was there for surgery yesterday March 2nd. All the nurses, doctors and all the rest of the staff were absolutely amazing. Even with her having to be delayed several hours due to trauma victims everyone made the wait more bearable. From the team when we first arrived of Tish and Heather. To the team in the OR of Connie, Marybeth, Samantha. And the anesthesia team of Dan and all. And the recovery nurses like Angie. And her Dr. Miele. And now all the people taking care of her as she gets better to come home. I thank you all from the bottom of my heart. She is recovering well. And Mercy is a wonderful hospital. It's my first time being in this hospital. Kudos to you all. Dustin Frye

My son was admitted on a Saturday afternoon with high blood pressure, the last I heard from him was when he told me they were keeping him,I kept calling his cell phone and I think it was dead, so by Tuesday I still haven’t heard from him, called and they told me he was discharged. I started panicking, I called the next day and was told he was not in the database, more panic set in and I have a bad heart, I was ready to do a missing person, called everyone, my whole family was so scared, finally he called us!!! He was still there WHY WOULD THEY TELL ME HIS MOTHER HE WAS DISCHARGED???? I am so angry, but he loves this hospital and the staff but to put us through all that was completely uncalled for.

Had everyone there who was helpful and wanted to be there to help even the lady who called me on the phone Tina was so helpful, nice and easy to talk to. I had a easy in and out same day surgery less swollen then any other surgery I have gotten done in the past. I also want to give a shout-out to nurse Jaclyn she was very attentive and caring and is how a nurse should be would definitely recommend to go there for care!

I was in a grease fire and my limbs were damaged to the point of needing skin graphs, and this hospital did an amazing job; from bed side manner, food, to working great with my insurance company to provide me outpatient care with compression clothing customized to my size and healing. The emergency room even had a priest there to pray for me if I wanted during the beginning of the stay. I was there in total of a week and 1/2. I felt safe, and very comfortable the whole time, nurses were always on their A game. Thank you for caring for me!

I had to pick up my inlaws here so my review is limited to that. The emergency entrance requires walking through a metal detector and wand search. No big deal. The security guard was polite and quick. Everyone I encountered was helpful and friendly so I can't say anything bad about it. The only bad thing was leaving the emergency room parking lot. You can see many people scrape the front ends of their cars when exiting. It's a really tight left turn. I have a CUV and I just made it without backing up and going at it twice. It's bad. But that's just how it was built. The rest of the emergency parking garage is very well lit and I felt safe.
